1903 I pointed out that no details of Heating
arrangements were supplied and that several rooms
on the upper floors would be better with fireplaces
where no provision had been made, and also that no
suggestion could be made until the plans of heating
I also referred to the matter in
were submitted;
April, May and July 1904.
Subsequently a separate file was introduced
in the Public Works Department.
It is interesting to note that work in
connection with the Heating of the building was
in progress as late as the year 1912 nine (9)
years later than my first report.

It is a fact that additional materials were
requisitioned from England as late as the year 1912
to complete this heating work.
The Architects original Estimate for Heating
the building was $750 as a matter of fact it has
cost a sum of $5.103.56. It is needless to state
that this item would have been less had the matter
been definitely settled when pointed out by me in
the first instance.
May I be permitted here to state that in con- neation with the heating of the new Law Courts a complete scheme was submitted to the Government by Sir Aston Webb and Mr. E. Ingress Bell in the first
instance without request.
